Software Portfolio

The following lists some previous projects that i am particularly proud of. Presenting software development work as a portfolio is inherently hard, and so the following is only meant as a sample. Window shopping for the curious if you like. For details or questions, please feel free to contact me.

NSimulator

A prototype that aims to commercialize a research project that uses input devices to revolutionize the education process for medical students and practitioners in a specific niche. The prototype, along with a market study, will be used as a feasibility indicator of starting a company around the product. [In Progress]

Xippee

A firefox extension to help in the use of most popular search engines. It aims at aiding you in visually filtering your search results. It is ad supported. I also wrote the Opera version. Technologies used: Javascript, XPath [Released]

CollegeWikis

Best way to describe this project is to quote the website itself; "College Wikis is a website that you and your classmates can use as the ultimate information source for any questions you have." This project is for a startup that is still growing and so the project is still heavily under development.[Released]

RetailMeNot

A firefox extension that helps you with your online shopping by notifying you of available coupons codes for the site you're visiting. The extension is a companion to the popular website with the same name and is meant to make it easy for shoppers to make full use of available coupons. [Released]

Displayshelf

The original developer describes this project as providing "a rich, templatable control to display a faux-3d view of a list of items. Its behavior is similar to the CoverFlow visualization added to iTunes in version 7." This project is released under a permissive license and so were my subsequent contracted changes. The project lives on as one of my open source projects.[Released]

Firemote

A research project to use wireless sensors in the detection and prevention of forest fires. Instead of focusing solely on the detection of forest fires, the project focused on the prevention and early warning mechanisms. The project was a joint collaboration between the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Association for Forests,Development and Conservation (AFDC).[In Progress]

StyledNotes

A project to help with research on learning methods. The application was used to study the effect of different features in s note-taking application on the learning ability of students. The features included things such as writing notes in rich text format, organizing notes in a hierarchy, and using speech recognition to drive the application's interface.[Released]
